Guardian of the Giants is a visually stunning and emotionally rich documentary that tells the story of Maine’s most iconic wild animal: the moose.
At the heart of the film is state moose biologist Lee Kantar, whose decades of fieldwork, often in the most challenging conditions, are captured with rare and remarkable access. Through his perspective and that of his team, viewers are taken deep into the science-based efforts to understand and safeguard Maine’s moose population. From aerial collaring to tracking the effects of winter ticks and climate change, the film offers a firsthand look at the realities of wildlife conservation in the North Woods.
